Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 8pm, a virtual artist reception will feature Nicolas Hyacinthe and his current exhibition at the MATV Gallery. In lieu of an in person reception, MATV/UMA along with Nicolas Hyacinthe invite the public to participate in an interactive discussion about his current exhibition. The virtual artist reception will include a viewing of one of Hyacinthe’s short films. One surprise artwork will be presented at the reception.
In February, MATV co-hosted a networking event for startup businesses and entrepreneurs. A panel of five spoke about the role generosity plays in business success. Natasha Kayulu, Faitha Ainane, and Ose Schwab will facilitate virtual discussion held on Zoom and YoutubeLive. On June 1 MATV, Maldens Media were selected as a winner of the Community Impact award, granted to them by the Access Center Professional Division. The award was to commemorate MATVs outstanding community program Malden Reads, a program that was started in 2011. Ron Cox attended the virtual award ceremony with a celebratory drink and the award itself.
UMA/MATV is holding a four week course on basic principles of journalism and reporting. Students will improve their writing and reporting skills and see their work published,. Instructed by Boston Herald writer Stephanie Schorow— and the deadline is fast approaching!
Based on plans offered by the Governor’s Office of the State of Massachusetts, UMA/MATV will reopen in four phases. This strategy is being carefully considered in order to provide the best service for the City of Malden while protecting the health of its residents, UMA/MATV members and staff. As with so many other factors during this unprecedented time, the timeline may change as new information arises.
