Marie Recupero, aka DJ Nomadik, was raised in Revere and lived in Boston/Cambridge before moving to Malden in 2008. She was elected to the MATV Board in 2010. She credits MATV as being her jumpstart into her involvement with the Malden community. At MATV, she was welcomed by the staff, learned new skills, and met many people who are committed to being involved in the continued growth of the city of Malden.
Nomadik has been a Radio, Event & Club DJ for over 10 years. During that time she has hosted radio shows on WERS (88.9fm) and currently on WMBR (88.1fm) in the Boston area. She has DJed at various venues throughout the Greater Boston area, including private parties and occupying residencies at the Good life in Boston, the Milky Way in Jamaica Plain, Harper's Ferry in Allston, and Enormous Room in Cambridge. In addition to her DJing, Nomadik organizes, promotes, manages artists, and "provides quality entertainment for the Boston area & beyond." She has been creating shows & events on an on-going basis since 2001. The first party (just 2 weeks after the 9-11 tragedy) sold out within the first hour at the original House of Blues (now on Landsdowne St.) Since then, she has gone on to produce various forms of cultural entertainment.
DJ Nomadik was featured in Boston's Weekly Dig Magazine as one of Boston's core DJs (July 2007). Also in 2007, She won Best Promoter of the year at Boston's M.I.C. awards. Additionally, Nomadik's open mic event at Milky way won the "Dig this Awards 2007" BEST club night - and recently Nomadik won 2009 Urban music award for best female DJ. Since her years in Malden, she produces a show on MATV called Soulkore Sessions, has 2 weekly entertainment nights (Mondays/Saturdays) at Dockside-River's Edge in Malden & is planning a hip hop conference this fall in Malden (location tba). Feel free to contact her at nomadik@soulkore.com.
